Despite the Los Angeles Lakers' defeat last night, one supporter had the finest day of his life.
Lucky spectator Jamie Murry rubbed his hands together, took a deep breath, and grabbed a basketball with $75,000 on the line.
Murry remarked, "I felt like I only had one opportunity."
Given the chance of a lifetime, Murry thought back on his Laker fandom.
His mother Sandra nurtured him to support L.A.'s best from the moment he was born, dressed him in a purple and gold jersey for his new born portrait. His passion for basketball grown over time.
Not too far from my place, I went to a modest camp at Apollo Park," he remarked. "I would just participate in the games, then as I got older, play pick-up, and now I play in the gym."
During his first Laker game in 18 years, the 24-year-old Amazon delivery driver got the chance to record a memorable event.
When a woman approached us while we were scanning the tickets, she said, "You guys want to enter for a chance to win some money," Murry recounted. I asked myself, "Is there a catch?"
Murry is a Lakers legend in his own right since he is just the 12th individual to ever make the half-court shot on their first attempt.
Being able to stand on the same court that Shaq and Kobe Bryant played on, as well as all these other great, was amazing, he added. Simply put, it was a godsend.
