Jenna Ortega may have more in common with Wednesday Addams than most people realise.

The 20-year-old actor stars as Wednesday Addams in the new Netflix Addams family series "Wednesday." The 13-year-old daughter of Gomez and Morticia Addams is known to be obsessed with death, and while promoting the show, Ortega revealed that when she was a kid, she used to perform autopsies on little animals.

During her Wired Most Searched Questions interview, she made the remark after reading the question, Are Jenna Ortega and Maddie friends?

I'm assuming they're referring to Maddie Ziegler, the beautiful, wonderful baby angel face, Ortega responded. The answer is yes.She is one of my closest friends. I had an instant connection with her.

Ortega went on to explain how they met while working on the film The Fallout and bonded over their weirdness. But, unlike Ziegler, who breaks out into character or movement or makes faces during takes, Ortega is a little darker.

I'm a weirdo in that, like, when I was younger, I used to perform autopsies on little animals, she explained. Like little lizards I discovered dead in my backyard.

The "You" star did not elaborate on her childhood extracurricular activities and instead continued to answer the internet's most frequently asked questions about herself.

"Wednesday" follows the iconic character as she attends Nevermore Academy and learns about the school's secrets. The cast includes Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzman as Gomez, and Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday in the "Addams Family" films.

Ortega recently appeared on TODAY, where she told Hoda Kotb and Jenna Hager Bush about her transformation into Wednesday and having Zeta-Jones play her mother.

"She's amazing. I believe her wit is underappreciated. People don't understand, we were on set, and they were some of my favourite scenes we shot because she was so willing to improvise, have fun, and try new things,"Ortega explained. "She just has amazing instincts"

The actor also stated that shooting in Romania was a fantastic experience because she had never been to that side of the world before... "It was perfect because we did a lot of exterior stuff, so we shot at castles and things like that, so it fit the Gothic atmosphere."
