Gavin Escobar was found dead on Wednesday after a rock-climbing accident According to U.S.A Today.

Escobar who spent the bulk of his NFL career with the cowboys, was only 31 years old.

Rescuers were called around 12;30 p.m. Wednesday to Tahquitz rock near Idyllwild following a distress call. A team managed to climb into the steep, remote area and found both unidentified climbers dead at the scene.

They were identified Thursday as Chelsea Walsh, 33, and Escobar, 31.

Firefighter Escobar was assigned to fire station 3 on B- shift. Firefighter Escobar leaves behind his wife and two young children.
