LA (Associated Press) – Despite having severe burns; Jay Leno said on Monday that he was well.

In a statement to Variety, Leno claimed I sustained some terrible burns from a gasoline fire ,I am ok. I only need a week or two to recover.

The fire's origin and exact timing were not immediately known. The legendary vehicle collection of the former Tonight Show host is kept in a garage in Burbank, which is north of Los Angeles.

According to an email given to conference attendees, Leno, 72, postponed his Sunday appearance at a finance conference in Las Vegas due to a severe medical emergency, People magazine said early on Monday.

The game show 'You Bet Your Life' revival is hosted by Leno, who put his passion for automobiles into the CNBC series 'Jay Leno's Garage.'
