The Veterans of Foreign Wars [VFW] joins a grateful country this Memorial Day.

This Memorial Day in remembering and honouring the soldiers, Marines, sailors, guardians, and members of the coast Guard.

The Event, which was once known as Decoration Day.

Decoration Day, was formally declared in 1868 to remember those who lost their lives fighting in the American Civil war.

In 1971, it was declared a federally recognized holiday in honour of all Americans who lost their lives while serving their country.

Memorial Day remembers more than a million men and women who have lost their lives while serving in the military since the Civil War started in 1861.

On Memorial Day, we pay tribute to the nation’s cherished sons and daughters who gave their final complete measure of devotion to it.

Every year, pride and sorrow are combined on this day. We understand and share your sorrow with all families who are grieving the loss of a military member.

These gallant soldiers represent not only the backbone but also the heart and soul of our nation.

President Harry S. Truman started a custom designating Memorial Day as a part of prayer for enduring peace.
