Royal supporters and leaders of state are flocking to London for the first British coronation in 70 years.

On Saturday, King Charles III and Camilla, the queen consort, are set to be crowned in Westminster abbey.

Technically, king Charles is already the head of state of the United kingdom, having taken over immediately after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died in September

The ritual, though, is about more than just crowning the next ruler.

.The event which runs through Monday, will feature festivities, performances, and royal rituals not seen since Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953.

King Charles and Camilla will ride by horse-drawn carriage from Buckingham palace to Westminster Abbey on Saturday morning.

The royal family has faced widespread criticism for both old and new offences.
